Africa 2003

Wile traveling, I heard so many great things about he backpacking in Africa it just had to be next. It is kind of a natural progression for the backpackers of the world. This trip started out with an extended stopover in Scotland, 10 days, and ended with a stop in Iceland. The middle, however, was all about Africa. The trip ended up running four months and I got at least a glimpse at all the nine countries in Southern Africa (missed Lesotho...had to save something for the next trip). The original plan was to start in Cape Town and loop around to the West, but, like things often go in the developing world, I headed up the East Cape. The hitching was better. Things moved a little fast in the end, three countries in one week, but the loop was completed.
